The Yiddish Book Center, located in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA, is a cultural institution dedicated to the preservation and digitization of Yiddish language books and the culture and history from which these books originated. The immense digital collection represents a treasure trove of countless refugee voices in Yiddish. The We Refugees Archive, in cooperation with the Yiddish Book Center, has already been able to add several escape stories to and about Vilnius to the archive – including the report by Zusman Segalovitsh, Mendel Balberyszski, and Pinkhas Shvarts – and will continue to draw on the Yiddish Book Center’s collection for relevant stories of flight.
